Sophie's Turn

Today was Sophie's first day of school. She and I got to spend one hour with Ms. Bonnie and a few of her classmates. Unfortunately, she clung to me the whole time. She even shed a few tears at one point. Please pray that she gains some confidence before Wednesday, when she will have to go without me.

We had a really nice weekend. On Saturday, the girls and I and their Aunt Joanie went to the Saline Fair Parade, while Bob was at the football game. Sophie, Lucy, Kaleigh, Joanie and I marched with the preschool float, while Ella went with Scott and the others in the church float. I believe the two floats tied for first place.

After the parade, we headed home for Sophie and Lucy's birthday party.  I hope everyone had a good time, despite the delay in the meal. We miscalculated the temperature to cook 30 lbs. of pork, so it didn't "pull" at the expected time. Maybe we'll just get pizza next time:)

Here are the birthday girls at the party. I'll try to post more pictures tomorrow.

You pulled off the pork well! It was well worth the wait! Thanks for a great time!

THIRTY POUNDS !!! Any leftovers?
I love that cupcake. Is that a castle on the cupcake?

When I "refreshed the pictures with full quality" (something only dial-up people know about), I realized there was no castle, but it was a cute idea. Not as cute, however, as the birthday girls. I think I was with Grammy in Suttons Bay when she purchased Sophie's school outfit.(I'm probably wrong but it sounds so Emily to talk that way)

Joyce, I think you're right about the outfit--or it may have been Avery's because she has one exactly like it. On second thought it must have been Sophie's because it was in August and Avery's birthday would have already past. Emily will know.

Yes, we do have leftovers. I can't take credit for the pork (Bob) or the cupcakes (Bob's aunt). The outfit is Avery's (size 4). Sophie's didn't fit her anymore (size 3). Hope that clear's up any confusion:)

The pork was great, so are the pictures. Nice post too! Tell Bob that I said good job on the pictures (he called the other day to tell me that he took most of them)

I will be thinking of you on Wednesday. It will be hardest for you because you are the one who has to walk away. I would not talk alot about the idea of her staying by herself at school in advance.
