The Birthday "Girl"

It's Bob's mom's birthday today. I don't think she'd appreciate it too much if I shared her exact age with you. But I will say that I don't know of any other sixty-something Grandma (or thirty-something mom for that matter) that plays as young as she does. When she spends the night, she sleeps on the floor between the girls' beds, she climbs through two-story tunnels at Jungle Java (you should hear her squeal when she comes down the slide), and she sits on the hard floor for hours playing with the girls.  I am so grateful for all she does for the girls and me. She is so generous with her time and gifts. Thank you, mom. We hope you have a fantastic birthday. We love you!

Hurt Feelings

Copycat Lucy came up to me today to inform me that Sophie hurt her feelings. I asked her where her feelings were. "On my foot" she said. 

Maybe you had to be there, but I got a kick out it.

Happy Birthday Bob

Bob doesn't get much face time on my blog. So, this being his 33rd birthday, I thought I'd post some pictures that I think help describe him.  Unfortunately, I don't have too many of them, since he's the one who usually takes the pictures.

Lucy Update

Warning: I'm using this blog as a journal to document the upbringings of my girls. If you don't care to read about the gory details of toddler-hood, please don't read any further.

Potty training:  Things are great on the #1 front. We've only had a handful of accidents in the last few weeks. #2 is proving to be a bit more challenging for her.

Binkies: Lucy is on medication for impetigo on her lip. So, I decided to take the plunge and get rid of the binkie all-together last night.  I know I'm the reason she's still using it...I just haven't had the courage to deal with the whining and crying that comes along with weaning her. The night went well until she woke up at 5:00 a.m. She didn't get back to sleep for a good forty-five minutes.  So, I'm expecting a difficult day ahead. Please pray for my patience:)

Chin laceration:  Here's a picture of Lucy's chin soon after she had her stitches. Yesterday, I noticed that it was pretty swollen and red.  I won't make you look at a picture of it now.  So yesterday I scheduled an appointment for her to see the doctor this afternoon. The nurse called back and wanted to see her sooner. It turns out that the wound is not healing properly and is a bit infected.  So, we're off to see the plastic surgeon next week. I'm hoping she doesn't have too noticeable of a scar after all of this.

Inauguration

I am enjoying watching all of the inauguration coverage today. I find it fascinating how this transition occurs. Even though I didn't vote for President Obama, I have an open mind for his presidency and am hopeful for the things he may accomplish.  I think it's great that most of the nation is excited about our new president. However, I echo Sarah's sentiments about how so many are putting their hope and faith in this one man. Read her post; she wrote a nice prayer that I think we should all say for our new president today. Welcome Sarah!

Quick Catch-Up

My computer has been acting up a bit, so I haven't had the patience to try to make an entry. I don't have much time now, but I thought I'd post a few pictures from our holidays. Unfortunately, we weren't feeling so good on Christmas Eve and Day, so I don't have any to share from then.

Wedding Pictures

The snow storm on Friday made for the perfect backdrop for Brian and Jen's Christmas wedding on Saturday.  The bride looked absolutely beautiful and everything went smoothly.  I think this was the best flower girl performance to date (this was the 4th wedding in which we've participated), especially considering they were a bit under the weather still. 

As I'm looking out the window at the snow falling, I'm hoping the bride and groom are enjoying themselves on the beach in the 80 degree weather. They deserve it.
